Gainesville Community Ties

Gainesville Community Ties

Gainesville Restaurant Group has been involved in the community for over 15 years. Don Regan started in the restaurant business in the late 1980‘s and always worked closely with his employees, treating everyone like family. Over the years, Don, his staff and family brought many local restaurants and bars to the Gainesville community. The lure of franchising a restaurant elsewhere may have existed, but Don never wanted to leave Gainesville. He always wanted the experience of warmth and caring to extend beyond the restaurant walls and into the Gainesville community--- so we are involved in local events all year round, from local high school sports teams/games to nonprofit organization fundraisers. Not only do our restaurants provide food and raffle prizes for events, but we also volunteer our time.

Investing in our communities is one of the best investments we can make and one we know has an impact that will last for generations. This tradition and these local values were inspired by our founder, father and friend-- Don Regan -- whose vision drives all we do, within and beyond our restaurants. We continue in his tradition, as “Big Don” passed away in August 2007. Don will always be remembered in our hearts and minds for the loving, caring man he was and the leadership he provided to so many of us over the years.

2009 Gainesville Community Involvement

In 2009, we have already sponsored several local high school sports teams such as Buchholtz High Schools' Baseball team. In early April, we will be donating food to UF's student group Stop Hunger Now!. We have succesfully catered events for several departments at the University of Florida, a local Boy Scouts troop, several doctors' offices and LifeSouth Blood Center. We sponsored food for the American Cancer Society's "Cattle Baron's Ball" in May, several charity golf tournaments this summer and many more in the fall. Gainesville High School's football teams will be eating our food before a few games- go Canes! Kappa Sigma earned our support for their busy rush week with a donated dinner from Steak & Pasta Works. We will be participating in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Touchdown Terrace Tailgate in November!

2008 Gainesville Community Involvement

In 2008, we had a sponsorship tent at the Gainesville Chamber of Commerce annual golf tournament. This event raised money for local teachers. We also got our hands "dirty" with some high school football teams this year too! St. Francis Catholic high school has eaten at Northwest Grille before every home game this year and Gainesville High School has been fed by Steak & Pasta Works for several games. The Rotary Club hosted an event at Steak & Pasta Works and used our kitchen to cook the food. We also ventured out to the tailgate party for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in November!
